School Learning Laboratory

The SuperEd Network's School Learning Laboratory (SLL) developed and tested a collaborative model for providing external services to schools. Between the fall of 2003 and December 2006 SLL created a toolkit of products and processes that:

  1. Helped schools select, use, and assess external services.
  2. Produced school change.
  3. Resulted in school innovations that directly impact teachers and school.

SLL created and piloted a model that can be replicated beyond the life of this grant.

SuperEd was a network of statewide non-profit organizations that serve Maine schools that operated actively for five years (2001-2006). SLL collaborated with the Western Maine Partnership (WMP) and its member schools to implement this project. The SLL staff included a Project Director/Facilitator and two Facilitators. Over the three years of the project, SLL worked with eight WMP schools and the SuperEd member organizations. All eight schools received customized facilitation and guidance from SLL Facilitators and SuperEd members participated in SLL processes and provided requisite services to schools as negotiated. Seven of the eight schools completed the school-level projects as designed.

This web site includes the documentation of SLL from July 16, 2005 to December 31, 2006. It also includes a report from an external evaluator, an overview of the project's activities, and the SLL Toolkit of resources.
