Publication Policy Statement

image of journalThe Journal of Maine Education serves as an exchange of professional information, a forum for stimulating thinking about education practices and policies, a place for publishing the writing of Maine educators, and a visible medium for the Maine Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. The Editorial Board seeks articles which state a clear position about an issue, idea, or practice, and present evidence and argument to support that position. Persuasive writing, supported by specific experiences, collected data, and/or professional references, will best serve the purposes of the Journal. Although we will consider all responsible writing on issues significant to the Maine education community, the Journal will tend to publish articles with a K-12 focus that a) describe and explain significant practices; b) explore novel ideas, policies, and programs and evaluate their application to educational settings; or c) report and evaluate practice in Maine. We will also include book reviews and other forms of expression which, in the Editorial Board's opinion, show promise or advancing the mission of the Maine educational community. The Editorial Board reserves the right to edit or require changes in manuscripts to fit the purposes of the Journal of Maine Education.

The Journal of Maine Education is published annually by the Maine Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. All rights reserved. Educators are authorized to reproduce a single article from a single publication without making a written request provided that (1) duplication is for an educational purpose in a not-for-profit institution; (2) copies are made available without charge beyond the cost of reproduction; and (3) each copy includes a full citation of the source. Permission to reproduce more than one article will be granted under the same conditions to those who make a reasonable request in writing. Permission for multiple copies must be secured in writing from the Maine ASCD Board of Directors info@maineascd.org
