Maine Literacy Leaders (MLL) is a network of educators committed to enhancing literacy education in all schools. It is sponsored by Maine ASCD. Through the network, literacy educators are able to exchange ideas, share information, identify and solve problems, grow professionally, and establish collegial relationships. Members typically work as literacy specialists, reading coaches, school leaders, building and district administrators, classroom and university teachers, and professional developers, although membership is open to all members of Maine ASCD. MLL meets five times during the school year to discuss topics of interest, study and share professional resources, and collaborate on program planning.
The theme for the 2007-2008 school-year is “Leadership and the Literacy Specialist.” Meeting topics include: implementing new programs, the role of the literacy specialist/coach, collaborating with administrative leaders, and coaching strategies. Meetings are informal and are held after school hours at a central location.
Join us! If you are already a member of Maine ASCD, simply complete this application form [PDF - requires plug-in] and return it to Maine ASCD.
If you are not yet a member of Maine ASCD, join today to enjoy all of the benefits of membership and to be included on the MLL e-mailing list.
We look forward to working together to promote literacy learning and the development of literacy leadership through the network!
