This session will provide practical strategies to promote staff and student learning, healthy, collaborative learning cultures and school success. Designed for both teachers and administrators, this program will include techniques to re-energize faculties and add vitality to school improvement efforts. Participants will leave the session having experienced the strategies and equipped with tools that can be implemented immediately in their contexts.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • examine the relationship between school culture and student success
  • diagnose school culture to assess its wellness and plan needed transformational events
  • practice techniques to enhance the site's problem solving capacity
  • analyze a variety of activities to create a more collaborative learning centered school

About the Presenter

Pam RobbinsPam Robbins consults internationally in a number of areas including brain research, leadership skills, instruction, and school improvement. Her work includes the creation and implementation of national curriculum seminars and training for the ASCD, the National Staff Development Council (NSDC), and the American Association of School Administrators (AASA).

Pam’s professional background includes work as a special and regular education teacher, coach, and as a director of staff development. She has designed and delivered training for leadership academies throughout the United States and internationally for the Department of Defense Education Equity Division, and at ASCD's Professional Development Institutes.

Pam’s written work has appeared in Educational Leadership, The Elementary School Journal, and the Journal of Staff Development. Her books include, How to Develop and Implement a Peer Coaching Program, The Principal's Companion, co-authored with Harvey Alvy, Thinking Inside the Block: The Teacher's Day Planner co-authored with Lynne Herndon, and most recently, The New Principal's Fieldbook: Strategies for Success co authored by Harvey Alvy.

With her educational background including a Masters Degree in Education from California State University, Sacramento, and a doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, Pam’s research has emphasized the areas of organizational development and change. She has dedicated her professional life to providing meaningful, research-based professional growth opportunities that provide the necessary skills and motivation for participants to accomplish their long and short range goals.
